It is believed that a demon named Kulantak used to live here for several thousand years. It is believed that after being killed by Shiva, the body of Kulantak turned into a mountain. After which Lord Shiva ordered Indra Dev to drop celestial lightning after every 12 years on this demon-like mountain. Since then, this miraculous event has been happening every 12 years till date.
